Bleus ou noirs, tous aimés, tous beaux
Des yeux sans nombre ont vu l’aurore
Ils dorment au fond des tombeaux
Et le soleil se lève encore.
Les nuits plus douces que les jours
Ont enchanté des yeux sans nombre
Les étoiles brillent toujours
Et les yeux se sont remplis d’ombre
Oh! Qu‘ils aient perdu le regard!
Non, non, cela n’est pas possible
Ils se sont tournés quelque part
Vers ce qu‘on nomme l’ invisible
Et comme les asters penchants
Nous quittent, mais au ciel, demeurent
Les prunelles ont leurs couchants
Mais il n’est pas vrai qu‘elles meurent

Ouverts à quelque immense aurore,
De l’autre côté des tombeaux,
Les yeux qu‘on ferme voient encore.

The Eyes
Blue or black, all endearing and beautiful,
The unnumbered eyes intercept the light at dawn.
They sleep at the bottom of tombs
As the sun keeps rising.
Nights that are milder than days,
Have enchanted the unlisted eyes.
While stars continue to sparkle in the firmament,
The eyes draw a veil of shade.
Oh! They have lost their sight!
No, no, that is not possible,
They have turned their gaze somewhere
Towards an invisible world.
And, as the planets lean on the orbit,
Leaving us to repose in Heaven,
The eye globes have their descent
However not determined to die.
Blue or black, all endearing and beautiful,
Opened to watch a glorious aurora,
On the other side of the tombs,
The eyes that are shut continue to see.

Những Ánh Mắt
Ánh mắt huyền xanh đẹp lạ lùng
Tia nhìn ưng ửng ánh vừng đông
Sầu trong huyệt mộ nằm say ngủ
Rạng rỡ ngoài kia rực ánh hồng
Đêm dài tươi mát dịu ngày qua
Đắm đuối nhìn nhau mãi thiết tha
Lấp lánh khung trời sao sáng tỏ
Mắt nhung đen láy phủ đêm ngà
Mắt chẳng nhìn nhau phải thế không?
Không, không … đâu thể xót xa lòng
Mắt ai khao khát phương nào đó
Tận cõi vô hình mãi ngóng trông
Như những vì sao lặn giữa đêm
Biệt ly… vẫn ở với trời êm
Đôi tròng mắt khép lim dim ngủ
Nhưng chẳng bao giờ chết lặng im
Ánh mắt huyền xanh đẹp dáng hồng
Bình minh vô tận vẫn hoài mong
Nồng say giấc ngủ trong mồ tối
Mắt nhắm nhưng mà vẫn ngóng trông
